Social Marketing sites have taken the world by storm. They offer a relaxed online setting to help members keep in touch with each other, stay informed about the industry and network with new contacts. Art Fusion has become the ultimate social networking site for the faux and decorative arts industry. It exploded onto the World Wide Web, garnering 423 members in just a few short weeks and adding to the number daily.
FIt all started as a spur-of-the-moment inspiration for Kathy Boyd. She created the resource site House of Faux and the international forum Talk Faux, but still felt a different niche needed to be filled. “I wanted something more intimate and in a more casual setting. I thought this kind of site would get everyone connected in a relaxed way,” Boyd says.
One of the great features about Art Fusion is the ability to customize the experience – an option that any artist can take to heart. “They can create their own page and if they create their own slideshow, it can be easily connected to their Facebook and MySpace pages,” says Boyd. “Their personal page can also feature their favorite music, provide links to their other sites and announce any news they’d like to share with the members.” This feature has already helped artists sell some of their work. Furthermore, they can upload company videos and create their own blog on the site.
Artists can jump into various chat room discussions and join various groups, such as the Gilder’s Café and Sisters Hands, to meet fellow artists and see their works easily.
The rapid growth and popularity of the site has left Kathy Boyd in awe. “The incredible talent worldwide that has been drawn to the site has helped foster international friendships and sparked amazing creative endeavors,” she says. “All this and Art Fusion has only been active for a month!”
